Hart Shaped Pancakes

One great family dish (even dad can make) for breakfast is these pancakes.  If your kids love having pancakes, they are sure to love this great breakfast dish.

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups flour

1 tbsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1/3 cup brown sugar
¼ to ½ cup powdered sugar
Optional: Red food coloring ( A few drops will make for nice pink pancakes)
Optional: Sliced strawberries for topping

Directions:

Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.  Mix the wet ingredients in another bowl, then stir in with the dry ingredients. Stir the ingredients until everything is well moistened, but the batter may be a bit on the lumpy side, which is totally fine.
Heat up a pan on medium and brush a bit of oil on it or use some cooking spray. You can use cookie cutters to shape your batter or you may want to just use ¼ cup of batter and then shape it into a heart yourself. Cook the pancakes until you start seeing bubbles on top and they start to break.  Turn them and cook for another minute or two on the other side. Take the pancakes out and sprinkle them with powdered sugar and sliced strawberries while they are warm. You may want to add some chocolate chips or some blueberries to the batter for a tasty twist on the heart shaped pancakes.
For whole wheat pancakes substitute 1 cup of regular flour with whole wheat flour.
