Shopping Nanny's Heart-Healthy Recipes

These recipes all have a little something to help make your day brighter by getting your heart healthy.

Here is a quick list of some of the things you will find in these recipes and how they will help your body feel good and healthy.


  • Oatmeal- Is full of omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium.  It’s fiber-rich and can lover levels of LDL (or bad) cholesterol and help keep arteries clear.
  • Avocado-Is packed with monounsaturated fat, and can help lower LDL levels while raising the amount of HDL cholesterol in your body.
  • Legumes- Are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, and soluble fiber perfect for a healthy heart.
  • Spinach- can help keep your ticker in top shape thanks to its stores of lutein, folate, potassium, and fiber.  Upping your servings of any veggies is sure to give your heart a boost.
  • Nuts- Walnuts are full of omega-3 fatty acids and, are loaded with polyunsaturated fat.  Plus, nuts increase fiber in the diet.  They are a great source of healthy fat.
  • Yogurt-contains live active cultures or "Probiotics" that help your digestive system and may even stimulate white blood cells.
  • Salmon- Is super rich in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon can help reduce blood pressure and keep clotting at bay.
